Each box contains enough Curry Sauce Spice and Garnish Spice to make this curry 4 times over.
To make a curry for 2 people the following additional ingredients are required:
- Two medium onions
- Fresh Coriander
Step 1
Bring to boil 4 cups of water in a stock pot/large pan, add the washed lentils.
Step 2
Add 1 tablespoon of Dhaal Spice to the boiling lentils. Stir and make sure all the spices have dissolved.
Step 3
Boil until the lentils have cooked. Approx. 10-15 minutes.
Step 4
In a separate frying pan, fry ½ a chopped onion in 3-4 table spoons of oil, when it turns translucent, add 2 cloves of chopped garlic and a thumb sized piece of ginger chopped (or 1 table spoon of garlic/ginger puree). Fry for 3-5 minutes until the garlic and ginger brown in the oil (do not burn).
Step 5
Now add the fried onions, garlic and ginger (and the oil) mixture to the lentils and simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Finally add a tea spoon of the 'Garnish mix' to the curry, and add salt to taste.
Step 7
Serve hot with a sprinkling of coriander.
